Framing Your Print
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can we buy the print already framed on your website?
We currently offer only one framed print size, the A1 European size, which is 59 x 84 cm or 23.4 x 33.1 inches.
Our standard framing option is a high-quality thin oak frame made of FSC-certified* oak veneer which best complements my prints as it is neutral and light in color and keeps the attention on the artwork.
(*The oak is sourced from a sustainably managed forest certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council)
What type of frame should I look for?
We recommend two types of frames:
- Standard or Traditional Frame -- We recommend a natural wood thin frame in a light or natural wood color without a mat.
- Floating Frame -- This is our preferred framing option. A floating frame creates the illusion of the artwork floating within the frame by leaving a gap between the frame and the artwork. This adds depth and dimension to the display, making it visually appealing.
What do I tell the framer?
- Give the framer the final trim dimensions (See product page).
- We recommend a thin light wood oak frame without a mat.
- However, you may want to consider where you want to place the print and select a frame of a material and color that complements the environment the artwork will be placed in.
Mat or no Mat?
We recommend no mat or a floating frame since all our prints have a white border. The framer will frame around 1.5 to 2-inch white border that is included around every print.
If you do decide to use a mat, we recommend a bright white mat.
Do you offer custom framing for print sizes larger than 30 x 40 inches?
Bespoke custom framing with museum quality materials at a higher cost can be provided working directly with us. Please contact us via email to hello@tregmccoy.com specifying the print title and print size you would like custom framed, and we will provide a cost estimate.
Do you have an online framing option you recommend?
If you don't have a good framer nearby, we highly recommend:
- Framebridge.com is a great option for reasonably priced custom framing with free shipping and excellent customer service. This is a more expensive option than choosing a stock mat and frame at a retailer, but, if you are not handy or would prefer a professional framer to handle the framing, this is the option for you.
- Simplyframed.com is another great option for custom online framing. They are a bit more expensive than other online framers but, they do offer custom framing for extra large pieces. This is an option if you are seeking a custom framed oversized print.
